Lakatos György

György Lakatos, violinist - main performer of our concert

The artist has been fiddling since he was 8 years old only. Even though being born to a many-generations family of musicians (his father has been one of the most regarded violin player in Hungary, his mother a pianist) the parents have not oriented him to follow the tradition. Learning this, it was not natural when – being only 12 years old – he was invited to a Junior School for Talents at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Budapest, thanks to his sustained work and salient artistic qualities. His tutors were András Kiss and Miklós Szenthelyi when he was awarded the First Prize and the Best Performer trophy (between adults!) in 2013, at the American Protégé International Competition in New York. Following this event he held a full-house concert at Carnegie Hall (27th May, 2013) as a foremost invited artist, playing a Paganini-capriccio. Today he works as a master teacher of Chamber Music and Violin at the Béla Bartók Secondary School for Music and also has been tutoring young artists at the Snétberger Center of Music Talents for years. Moreover, he regularly responds to many invitations coming from home and abroad.
Hope you will enjoy his performance.
